Ghost Tapes – A SOUND INSTALLATION BY MARLON BEATT

 

 

Ghost Tapes is an interactive 6.1 sound installation that deals with the concept of sound as a tool of psychological manipulation. The Soundscape is composed of edited and alienated historical sound footage, dissonant frequencies and noise. The Installation allows participants the possibility to probe and interact with its soundscape and get a taste of the ways in which sound can impact mind and body.

Ghost Tapes ist eine interaktive 6.1 Soundinstallation, die sich mit psychologischer Beeinflussung mittels Klang auseinander setzt. Hierfür wurde ein Soundscape erstellt, das sich aus bearbeitetem, entfremdetem historischen Klangmaterial, dissonanten Frequenzen und unangenehmen Klangfarben zusammensetzt. Der Betrachter kann durch die interaktive Ebene der Installation das Klanggebilde

und dessen Auswirkungen auf Körper und Sinne eigenständig erproben.
